We are less than a month away from being in 2020, this could lead to new advancements in technology. In this blog post we will take a look at predictions which are being made for the start of the new decade and how this will impact the Tech Industry. By looking ahead at predictions, businesses can begin to plan for the upcoming year and start getting prepared.
Firstly, lets discuss the negatives.
It is predicted that in 2020, cyber crime is going to be on the rise once again. The UK has already seen a large increase in their Cyber attacks; a rise of 195% on ransomware, being the most attacked region in the world. This trend is set to continue.
To highlight this further, the criminals are getting smarter and their technology is advancing. We have seen malware which has AI embedded making it smart enough to know which servers are worth infecting and which servers are not, the use of ‘deep fakes’ is on the rise with companies facing losses in funds due to a ‘deep fake’ telephone communication, as well as the rise of Ransomware as a Service (RaaS) making it even easier for the attacks to be dispatched and harder for them to be traced.
All of this new technology is proving chaos for a lot of businesses and 2020 is the year to be prepared for cyber attacks. Its times like this when a business needs a good IT Security Solution in order to protect themselves. Tecnica have a team of IT Specialists who have extensive knowledge of cyber security solutions.
There is also uncertainty which lies ahead. With the general election vote done yesterday, and the decision over Brexit to be completed early in 2020, the whole country is unsure as to what will happen next. No one knows for certain what will happen during Brexit as a lot of things will change. For example, we may no longer follow GDPR but only The Data Protection Act 2018 so companies will need to educate themselves on this legislation. There may also be restrictions on labour, outsourcing, and distribution.
This uncertainty will be causing issues for many organisations. Businesses need to be prepare for the future and have solutions for any possible outcomes. Businesses will have to be prepared for a multitude of scenarios, which can be costly and timely. Businesses do not rate IT as a priority and are therefore easily targeted.
Tecnica can help businesses during and after this transition period. Our IT Professionals have many years of experience in the IT industry which makes them more than qualified to aid businesses in making an IT Strategy, that will aid the preparation for the unknown of 2020.
However, there are some positive predictions for next year, it is expected that the gender imbalance in the Tech Industry will start to decrease as there will be a rise of females joining the Tech industry in 2020. This is good news, as we spoke last week about the lack of women in technology and how it was impacting diversity within organisations. It’s looking hopeful that the education system will also step in and put more focus on encouraging young women to look into the core STEM subjects, as at the moment even in education technology is predominantly male.
By encouraging women from a young age to be engaged with technology, it will be a step in the right direction and will aid the technology industry in the future. The more women we see entering technology, the more diverse the workforce will become as this will encourage others who felt like they weren’t the stereotypical STEM worker to enter fields. It will start to create an equal and diverse workforce prepared for the future.
It looks like it is going to be a busy year for Technology, and now is the perfect time to start preparing for it.
