Senior Cloud and Network Specialist (MSP) - Advance Your Career with Tecnica

Role Overview:
As a Senior IT Specialist, you will possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in desktop computer systems and end-user support, with a strong understanding of networking. This customer-facing role requires you to be motivated, self-driven, and capable of working largely unsupervised. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies and specialise in areas such as cloud and cybersecurity.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and configure computer systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware/software faults.
  • Solve technical problems both over the phone and face-to-face.
  • Design and implement robust network solutions, ensuring security and high performance.
  • Provide expert support for Microsoft technologies, including Office 365, Windows Server, and Azure.
  • Manage and support virtualised infrastructure (Hyper-V, VMware).
  • Ensure IT systems and processes align with backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Perform various administrative tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Lead or assist in IT projects such as cloud migrations and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to their development.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT support, particularly with small and medium enterprises.
  • Experience with Microsoft Server Infrastructure, Office 365, and Azure, including design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure, including Cisco switches, firewalls, and SAN technologies.
  • Experience with virtualised environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Advantageous: Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent).
  • Scripting experience is desirable.
  • Proven ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Commercial awareness and a customer-driven mindset.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Preferably educated to degree level.

Tecnica IT Specialist - Transform and Advance you Career

IT Specialist based in Dunfermline and working as part of a well-established team that delivers 2nd and 3rd line support to users – primarily around desktop environment, server/network infrastructure and Office 365.

The successful candidate will have one to two years Desktop computer systems and end user support skills with a good understanding of networking. You will be expected to be motivated and self-driven and largely work unsupervised in a customer facing role with strong problem-solving ability coupled with excellent communication skills.

Training is provided depending on experience to meet individual and company requirements

Tasks can include installing and configuring computer systems, diagnosing hardware/software faults and solving technical problems as well as administrative tasks either over the phone or face to face. You will have a desire to succeed and work to high standards with an attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd / 3rd level technical support to our customer base
  • Identify and resolve technical issues in line with business requirements and agreed SLA’s
  • Engage with 3rd party / vendors where appropriate to escalate/prioritise issues
  • Undertake analysis of current / proposed systems and technologies, report findings and recommendations/diagnosis where appropriate
  • Ensure team process documentation is updated and accurate, and creating new documentation as required
  • Raising and closing tickets across the Service Desk / Helpdesk, ensuring a timely and friendly service
  • Escalating complex queries to senior members of staff and using teamwork to reach quick resolutions for clients to minimise business down time
  • Using monitoring software system to manage alerts in a efficient manner
  • Prioritising workloads to ensure all client queries are dealt with accordingly
  • Accurately input query and resolution information on ITSM system

Required:

  • Experienced delivery of 2nd / 3rd line support in a fast-paced enterprise level environment
  • Good understanding of network technologies – LAN / WAN / WLAN / TCP/IP
  • Good understanding of backup technology and process
  • Understanding of ITIL and IT processes including incident, problem, and change management
  • Microsoft Infrastructure – Windows 10 / Server 2016
