Market leading vendor Veeam has announced the launch of a new way to back-up Microsoft Teams that will revolutionise Teams data storage.
From October 2022 Microsoft are introducing a new way to back-up Microsoft Teams chat messages. Currently all Teams chats are stored in a TeamsMessageData folder which is hidden and full of message archived data. Microsoft have gradually been applying restrictions to this folder and moving customers to Teams Export API.
Prior to Teams Export API, Teams data back-up had always been somewhat difficult to manage as there as been no specific API and data was backed-up from hidden folders.
The issue being that users will have to acquire special permissions to view their back-up data from Teams Export API. This may cause disruption and issues for some users dependent on how they are using Microsoft Teams. Microsoft will also charge users for Teams Export API.
Veeam have put the choice back into the users’ hands. Microsoft 365 V6a is a cutting edge product that allows users to switch to new Teams Export API when they are ready, or not at all. All data is just as secure and accessible in a way that is tailored to the user. So if users are not ready to transfer to Teams Export API they don’t need to for the foreseeable. Resolving any potential disruption and reducing costs comparatively.
